<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square battery having a wound electrode body which can prevent a metal foil exposed part from interfering with a winding core when the metal foil exposed part is deformed. <P>SOLUTION: A square battery comprises a flat wound electrode body 120 in which a belt-like electrode is wound around a plate-like winding core 126. The winding core 126 is formed of a rectangular plate, and has a taper part 126b with a narrower plate width formed at four corners. Electrodes 122 and 124 comprise a belt-like metal foil, a coated part in which the metal foil is coated with an active material mixture, and metal foil exposed parts 122A and 124A in which the metal foil is not coated with the active material mixture along one long side of the metal foil, and in the winding core 126, the coated part is arranged in a wound axial center part 126A while the metal foil exposed parts 122A and 124A are arranged in wound axial ends 126B and 126B. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
