ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION COMPRISING LAURIC ARGINATE (LAE) AND NISIN

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising an antimicrobial compound LAE (also known as Mirenat-N, lauric arginate, N-Lauroyl-L-arginine ethyl ester monohydrochloride and lauramide arginine ethyl ester) and nisin. Such compositions are useful for inhibiting microbial growth in foodstuffs. Also disclosed are processes for preventing and/or inhibiting the growth of, and/or killing a micro-organism in a material as well as use of said compound and nisin.
