[Also in Division H1] An on load switching device such as to effect the transfer of load from one tap to another on a transformer comprises a switching impedance connected to each tap arranged so that the impedances are switched to the reversed state simultaneously by a pulse from a device for detecting the zero point of the load current. In Fig. 1, one tap 5 may be connected to a load 13 through reverse parallel connected thyristors 10, 11. From a voltage detecting circuit, a contact 18 is closed when the voltage is to be raised hence passing a signal from a zero current detector 12 to a bi-stable circuit 15, changing over its state so that output voltages at terminals 33, 34 are reversed thus extinguishing thyristors 10, 11 through control voltage generators 20, and firing thyristors 8, 9. To prevent the thyristors 8, 11 or 9, 10 firing simultaneously and causing a short circuit the terminal voltages 33, 34 are fed through delay circuits 23, 24 having different time delays in the rise and fall direction so that one thyristor will block before the other fires.</p> |
