摘要 Disclosed is an elevator governor which enables realization of an overspeed detection mechanism to which speed dependence is added, while preventing vibration and noise as well as decreased reliability due to component wear, all with a simple structure. For this purpose, the governor is equipped with a sheave, around which a cable, which is coupled to a body hoisted by the elevator, is wrapped, the rotational speed of which in one direction changes according to the speed at which the hoisted body rises, and the rotational speed of which in the other direction changes according to the speed at which the hoisted body descends; a fly weight, which is provided for the sheave and the amount of outward shift of which is changed as the rotational speed of the sheave changes; a sensor, which is provided near the fly weight and which senses sheave overspeed when the fly weight shifts outward by a predetermined amount; and a stopper, which is provided near the fly weight and prevents the fly weight from shifting outward more than a predetermined amount when the sheave is rotating in a predetermined direction of the two rotational directions.
