<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve uniformity in image quality in an ultrasonic image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A transmission/reception control part 16 makes a direction to a transmission/reception part 14 to repeatedly carry out ultrasonic wave transmission/reception processes in a plurality of ultrasonic vibrators using a pair of ultrasonic vibrators disposed at positions facing each other while sandwiching a rotation shaft in an ultrasonic probe 10 to carry out the ultrasonic transmission/reception process alternately in first order in which the positions of the vibrators are transferred in order from the rotation shaft toward the end on a time serial basis, or in second order in which the positions of the vibrators are transferred in order from the end of the ultrasonic probe 10 toward the rotation shaft on a time series basis. The transmission/reception control part 16 makes a direction to the transmission/reception part 14 to switch the order before and after reversal of the rotation direction of the ultrasonic probe 10 when it is reversed.
