Absorbing resin particles having an absorption rate pattern in which the absorption rate is low in the initial stage, normal in the middle stage, and high in the late stage. An absorbing article causing no problems such as a rash is provided by using the absorbing resin particles. The absorbing resin particles comprise a crosslinked polymer (A1) comprising units of a water-soluble vinyl monomer (a1) and/or a hydrolyzable vinyl monomer (a2) and units of a crosslinking agent (b), as essential structural units. In a swelling volume measurement method in which the swelling volume per g of the absorbing resin particles in saline is measured, the ratio of the time period to a swelling volume of 5 mL (t1) to the time period to a swelling volume of 40 mL (t2), t2/t1, is 5-20.
