<p>The connector has a contact carrier (11) comprising a coding unit (17), which cooperates with a coding unit of another contact carrier. The former coding unit ensures arrangement of the contact carriers, where the arrangement is defined with respect to the connection of contacts (14) and counter contacts. The former contact carrier comprises a support for the former coding unit that is designed as a separate component, and has guides (19), which hold the former coding unit in a preset position.
