Method of display comprising generating monoscopic two dimensional image of virtual environment, storing z-buffer depth information associated with 2D image in memory, and generating stereoscopic image for three dimensional display by combining monoscopic image and stored depth information. 3D stereoscopic image may comprise pair of images showing different perspectives; one being the generated monoscopic image, the other monoscopic image based on original monographic image and z-buffer information. Stereoscopic image may comprise images with viewpoints different to each other and different to original monoscopic image. Z-culling is prevented so if gap occurs due to occluded pixels, gap is filled with pixels from memory, or pixels are copied, extrapolated or interpolated, or pixels are generated from texture data. Generated 3D images may be chromo stereoscopic images. Entertainment system operates on video games consoles 3D version of game output on 3D television without modification of game source code. |
