<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of achieving longer life of the whole system in the fuel cell system having a plurality of unit cells (unit power generation sections). <P>SOLUTION: Control sections 171 to 173 switch and control connection between the unit cells 141 to 143 and a load 2 (DC/DC converter 19) in response to the magnitude of electromotive voltages V1 to V3 of the plurality of unit cells 141 to 143. Thus, even though the electromotive voltage of a part of unit cells (for example, unit cell 142) among the plurality of unit cells 141 to 143 is lower than a designated threshold voltage Vth1, the connection between the unit cells 141 to 143 and the load 2 (DC/DC converter 19) can be set up to be at a suitable state.
