Provided is a liquid crystalline organic semiconductor material which can be practically applicable as an organic semiconductor. A liquid crystalline organic semiconductor material which is a liquid crystalline composition having a smectic phase as a liquid crystalline phase, characterized in that the material has a distyryl benzene structure represented by the following general formula (1) and exhibits a solid state formed by the phase transition from a smectic phase when the material is heated to a temperature within the range where the material takes a smectic liquid crystalline state and subsequently is cooled.
