A process for producing a fluorine compound having a fluorosulfonyl group through a coupling reaction. The process, which is for producing a compound represented by the formula [(FSO2-)a(Z-) 3-aC-]nR(-COY)b-n, comprises reacting a compound represented by the formula (FSO2-)a(Z-) 3-aC(-COX) with a compound represented by the formula R(-COY) b by photocoupling reaction when X and Y each is fluorine or by electrolytic coupling reaction when X and Y each independently is hydroxy or a group represented by-OM. In the formulae, X and Y each is fluorine, hydroxy, or a group represented by-OM; Z is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, or a monovalent organic group; R is an organic group having a valence of b; M is an alkali metal atom, a is an integer of 1-3; and b and n each independently is an integer of 1-4, provided that b>=n.
