PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device capable of suppressing the effect due to electrons (holes) caused by incident light that cannot be prevented only by means of light shielding. SOLUTION: A region 36 whose voltage is set to a value lower than the reference value of a product of the voltage in a drain region and Q (unit electric charge quantity) is provided, or a potential barrier is provided around the drain region, with respect to majority carriers rather than the drain region 34 of a transistor. In such a configuration, by controlling a potential on the periphery of the drain region 34 connected to a reflection electrode 30 to be in a floating state, photo carriers generated in the semiconductor substrate are hardly guided into the drain region 34.
