PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading system for properly utilizing a file before scanned image data are appended. SOLUTION: A file selected from a shared folder in a PC in step S1 is copied to an operation folder in an MFP in step S2. When it is determined that image data can be added in step S4, save/overwrite is selected in step S7. Image data generated by scanning in step S9 are appended to the file in the operation folder in step S10. A file is stored in the shared folder in a form selected by the step S7, in step S11.
