A filter material for water treatment (filtrant FIPAN) in the form of fractional sand (cover), which is obtained by crushing or aqueous granulation of slag of metallurgical or other productions. It is obtained from electro-stove slag of iron nickel production, and its basic structural components are (in % of mass fractions): enstatite SiO2 (48-58) and MgO (6-32), wustite FeO (6-12), remainders of magnetite Fe3O4 (it is not normalized), and also oxide of calcium CaO (2-23) and chromium Cr2O3 (1.0-3.0), nickel and cobalt Ni+Co (0.04-0.2) and aluminium oxide Al2O3 (1-7).
