COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING ANTHRAQUINONE DYES

A composition composition containing (A) an alkali-soluble binder and (B) an anthraquinone dye of formula (I) wherein R₁, R₂, R₃ and R₄ are each independently of the other hydrogen, Q-Cgalkyl which may be unsubstituted or substituted by one or more halogen atoms, hydroxy groups, mercapto groups, amino groups, phenyl groups or C₁QalkOXy groups, or -X-[-O-Y]n-ZH, wherein X and Y are each independently of the other C₂-C₆alkylene, Z denotes oxygen or sulphur and n is a number from 1 to 10, with the proviso that at least one of R₁ and R₂ is not hydrogen and at least one of R₃ and R₄ is not hydrogen and at least one R₂, R₃ and R₄ is a hydroxy- or mercapto-substituted Q-Cgalkyl group, and R₅ to R₁₀ are each independently of the other hydrogen or Ci-Cgalkyl, is useful for the production of colour filters for liquid crystal displays, flat-panel displays, colour image pickup tubes, colour-copying machines etc.
