PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for injecting ink into an ink cartridge in a condition capable of preventing air bubbles from being mixed in an ink to be supplied to a head during the use of the ink so as to ensure stability on printing in an ink cartridge having upper ink storage chambers and a lower ink storage chamber. SOLUTION: The upper ink storage chambers 16, 17 and the lower ink storage chamber 11 are partitioned by a partition wall 10 and communicated with each other by a communication passage 18. A differential pressure regulating valve is provided between the upper ink storage chamber 17 and an ink supply port 4. Atmospheric air is introduced into the lower ink storage chamber from an air passage system with the consumption of ink. When an ink is injected into the ink cartridges, the ink is injected into the upper ink storage chambers in a condition that substantially 100% of the volume thereof is filled with the ink, and the ink is injected into the lower ink storage chamber in a condition that atmospheric air is present therein.
