PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measuring apparatus for measuring the distance to a target to be measured accurately, regardless of the distance to the target to be measured. SOLUTION: At least in an ultrasonic transmission section 4 of the ultrasonic transmission section 4 and an ultrasonic reception section 5, the transmission conditions can be changed. As a result, for example, when the distance to the target to be measured is small, ultrasonic waves having small energy of the ultrasonic transmission section 4 are transmitted, thus reducing the direct waves of the ultrasonic waves and achieving short-distance measurement. Conversely, when the distance to the target to be measured is large, ultrasonic waves having large energy of the ultrasonic transmission section 4 are transmitted, thus increasing the reflected waves of the ultrasonic waves for measuring the distance.
