PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp starting device reducing partial discharge caused to a peripheral metallic part from the end part of a secondary coil, a discharge lamp lighting device, a headlight apparatus for a vehicle, and a vehicle.

SOLUTION: This discharge lamp starting device is provided with: a rod shaped magnetic core 5; a secondary coil 16 wound around the magnetic core 5; a sealing part 8 sealing the magnetic core and the secondary coil with resin; a primary coil 15 wound around the outer circumference of the sealing part 8; a capacitor connected to the primary coil 15; a discharge gap; and a high voltage terminal 6 to which a high voltage side end part 16a generating high potential between the both end parts of the secondary coil 16 is connected. The end face of the high voltage side end part 16a of the secondary coil 16 connected to the high voltage terminal 6 is cut into a triangle, in which a vertex angleθ1 made by oblique faces 20 and 21 facing the both sides from the substantially center of the end face is 120 degrees approximately, and anglesθ2 andθ3 made by the oblique faces 20 and 21, and the side face of the secondary coil 16 are also set at 120 degrees approximately.
