PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which has excellent whiteness index, an emission efficiency and an element lifetime simultaneously. SOLUTION: In the organic EL element 10 in which a fluorescent light emitting layer 16 and a phosphorescence emitting layer 14 are formed between an anode 12 and a cathode 19, the fluorescent light emitting layer 16 is provided in the cathode 19 side from the phosphorescence emitting layer 14. And, the organic EL element in which a non-emitting boundary layer 15 is provided between the fluorescent light emitting layer 16 and the phosphorescence emitting layer 14.
