The motor vehicle has tank with a cryogenic medium which is supplied to a power unit or an auxiliary unit. The time interval estimated for the upcoming filling of the tank is communicated to a vehicle user. The time interval for the complete filling of the tank is calculated based on the characteristics determined in the previous fueling procedure. A cold and hot fueling is differentiated based on the time interval.
