The method for the driver assistance in hazardous situations entails creating an automatic dimming (LQQFF) of light sources (LQ) of the vehicle. An automatic evaluation (AGI) of hazard indicators (INTGI, EXTGI) takes place and on the basis of this evaluation an automatic a decision for or against dimming of the light sources is made. The hazard indicators are automatically co-related with hazard likelihood indicators (GW) and the automatic decision made on the basis of the co-relation result. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a system for driver assistance in hazardous situations to carry out the proposed driver assistance method; and (B) a use for the proposed or system which is to avoid accidents with wild animals.
