An automobile is fitted with a range of sensors [12] such as a steering angle, speed and video cameras that provide input to a vehicle dynamics regulator [20] for comparison with reference data [16,18]. The regulator operates engine and braking system actuators to provide safe motion. Independent claims are also included for the following; (1) sensor unit; (2) computer program storage product.
