PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a projection type display device which can display a picture with high contrast even in the environment of a bright room, does not require time and labor for installation adjustment, and is housed in compacter shape when it is not used. SOLUTION: The projection type display device includes a projection means 10, a screen irradiated with a projected light beam emitted from the projection means 10 and a housing means 12 for taking up and housing the screen. The projection means 10 and the housing means 12 are constituted to be attachable/detachable to/from each other. The screen is constituted by superposing a Fresnel lens sheet and a light beam diffusing sheet, and further an ND coloring film or the like is provided on the front of the light beam diffusing sheet in order to reduce the influence of an external light beam reflected on the screen.
