PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent gas-barrier material of a laminate which educes the curling of polymer layers caused by the curing and shrinkage of the polymer layers and is transparent and excellent in gas-barrier properties, in the laminate in which the polymer layers and inorganic compound thin film layers are laminated on a plastic resin base material, and to provide a method for producing the gas-barrier material. SOLUTION: In the laminate, the polymer layers 3 of a polymer obtained by polymerizing an electron beam or ultraviolet polymerizable monomer and/or an oligomer and the inorganic compound thin film layers 4 are laminated alternately on both surfaces of the transparent plastic resin base material 2. The same number of the polymer layers 3 are laminated on the respective surfaces, or the same number of the polymer layers 3 and the same number of the inorganic compound thin film layers 4 are laminated on the respective surfaces.
