PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food material containing calcium and magnesium at the most suitable ratio, giving no adverse effect, capable of being advantageously added to any food and requiring a little energy consumption in its production. SOLUTION: This food material containing calcium and magnesium is obtained by finely pulverizing natural dolomite mineral to have <=8 μm mean particle diameter, wherein the natural dolomite mineral has following items; The natural dolomite mineral (1) contains <=25 wt.% Ca and <=14 wt.% Mg and satisfies [Ca%]/[Mg%]=1.6 to 2.5, (2) contains <=20 ppm heavy metal (metallic substances coloring with the sodium sulfide reagent solution in acidity) expressed in terms of lead equivalent and (3) has >=90 whiteness (measured by the reflectance method in accordance with JIS Z-8722). |
