<p>A monitoring device for preventing web break reliably even if the installation environment is not good. A light source projects light onto the edge of a wet web, and a camera picks up a part of the reflected light. The camera is very small, and completely enclosed in a camera box. The camera box has an observation window of a transparent material in the lens part of the camera. The outer surface of the observation window is coated, and the mist contamination is prevented by an air curtain of air flowing downward. The air curtain is formed when the air continuously supplied inside the cover flows along the outer surface of the observation window from an opening. The color image captured by the camera is processed by an image processor, and the image is displayed on a monitor TV, thereby enabling monitoring of variation of a peeling point. Thus a machine abnormal state resulting in web break is predicted.</p> |
