PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable alga culturing member without causing marine pollution. SOLUTION: This alga culturing member is obtained by forming an alga culturing bed 6 prepared by coating a reinforcing member 5 obtained by forming a biodegradable material into a meshlike or a sheetlike shape having a plurality of small holes with an alga culturing coating 3 for implanting algae and promoting the growth on the surface of a substrate 2 dipped in water. The alga culturing bed 6 is integrally formed with the substrate 2 by coating the reinforcing member 5 prefixed onto the surface of the substrate 2 with the alga culturing coating 3 and the surface of the substrate 2 is further previously coated with the alga culturing coating 3 to form a lower alga culturing layer 3a. The reinforcing member 5 can be mounted on the surface of the lower alga culturing layer 3a and the surface of the reinforcing member 5 can further be coated with the alga culturing coating 3 to form an upper alga culturing layer 3b.
