PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an increase in the amount of information sent to a train side from a ground apparatus. SOLUTION: This pattern control type automatic train control system includes the ground apparatus 4 for transmitting control information for controlling a train to a track circuit 3, and a pattern type automatic train control device 2 for receiving control information from the track circuit 3 for controlling the train 1. In this train control system, a logical part 4a of the ground apparatus 4 comprises a storage means for storing temporary-speed limiting information for each track circuit in advance in case a temporary-speed limit section where the train needs a temporary run at a designated speed occurs, and an extracting means for extracting the temporary-speed limiting information of the track circuit for a section located more rearward then the temporary-speed limit section from the temporary-speed limiting information stored in the storage means when the temporary-speed limit section is set up. A transmission control part 4b and a transmitting/receiving part 4c of the ground apparatus 4 transmit the information of the set-up temporary-speed limit section and the temporary- speed limiting information extracted by the extracting means to the track circuit 3.
