PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an finely adjustable reclining device of a backrest having a means for holding strength against an overload on internal teeth of a gear plate at the side of the backrest. SOLUTION: This reclining device is characterized in that plural lock gears for meshing with and separating from the internal teeth of the gear plate in a round reclining unit are arranged in circumferential equal angle positions in respective sets as plural sets adjacently connected two by two, external teeth of the two lock gears of the respective sets are constituted so that one is relatively dislocated by a half pitch to a pitch of the internal teeth, and when one lock gear is in a state of meshing with the internal teeth, the external teeth of the other lock gear and a tooth part of the internal teeth are in a separate state in abutment, and these both lock gears are alternately meshed with the internal teeth by a push-movement of a main cam and seesaw operation of a sub-cam to finely adjust the inclination of the seat back.
