APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REMOTELY CONTROLLING COMPUTER POWER SWITCH USING TELEPHONE LINE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for remotely controlling a computer power switch using a telephone line are provided to turn on the power of a computer by using a phone number from a remote area regardless of an IP address by discriminating a voltage supplied between an external telephone line and a phone set and discriminating whether the telephone line has been used and there is a power supply control signal. CONSTITUTION: A call signal detector(12) detects whether a phone connection request signal is inputted from an external telephone line. A phone set status detector(13) measures a DC voltage supplied between the telephone line and the phone set and detects whether the phone set is busy or in a standby state. A computer power detector(14) is connected to a main board of a computer and detects whether power is supplied to the main board to operate the computer. A computer power supply signal outputting unit(15) transmits a switching signal so that the power of the computer can be supplied to the main board if a signal corresponding to the computer power input signal is inputted from the telephone line. A switching unit(16) is controlled to connect with or separated from the telephone line and the phone set. A controller(11) controls to separate the telephone line and the phone set by switching off the switching unit(16) if a computer power control signal is inputted from an external telephone line, turn off the computer by transmitting a computer power input signal to the computer power supply signal outputting unit if no computer power is detected from the computer power detector, and connect the telephone line and the phone set by turning on the switching unit if the phone connection signal is continuously inputted from the external telephone line.
