PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing tube type silica glass having a uniform distribution of cross-sectional areas. SOLUTION: In the method for producing tube type silica glass from a hollow rod-like green formed body, this production is characterized in that it consists of a first process for forming the hollow rod-like green formed body having an outer diameter which is constant and an inner diameter which increases continuously toward the lower end, a second process for vertically positioning the green formed body in a sintering oven moving upward and downward to locate its lower end downward and a third process for sintering the green formed body by moving the sintering oven heated to a predetermined temperature downward.
