PURPOSE:To obtain the desired image without wasting a recording medium by storing image information of one screen for going back successively containing the latest image information in a first storage part of an internal storage device, and storing the number of necessary screens of this storage contents in an external storage device in accordance with a photographer's switch operation. CONSTITUTION:Still image information passing through a digital signal processing part 6 and a compressing part 7, etc., by continuous photographing, etc., by an electronic still camera is stored as screen information for going back timewise successively containing the latest screen information in an internal memory 8 controlled by a system control part 10. When a photographer operates a switch 13, based on this information, the latest screen information and prescribed plural pieces of screen information for going back timewise successively are written in an external memory 12 of a disk, etc., and when the screen information is selected by reading it out, the desired still image is obtained without wasting a recording medium. |
