<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily recognize an available image reader, in a system to which a plurality of image readers are connected on a network. SOLUTION: A plurality of image readers 1-3, consisting of personal computers 2c-2e and image read sections 2g-2i respectively, are interconnected by a network 2a, and a personal computer 2b for selecting an image reader is connected to the network 2a. The personal computer 2b detects each state of the image readers 1-3 to list the states and acquires and stores the operating state of each image reader. The stored information is displayed, and the user recognizes an available image reader by observing the displayed list.</p> |
