PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape recording/reproducing device capable of cleaning a helical scan drum without bringing about the excessive wear. SOLUTION: The tape recording/reproducing device 10 includes cleaning assemblies 80-92 and is capable of additionally utilizing one or plural among the motor driving/mounting functions of an additional tape cassette 24 that holds a part of the tape 20 in between a tape driving capstan 52 constituting a part of the device 10 in the manner of making a pinch-roller 50 move by holding one magnetic tape 20 by a motor 58 and pulling out this one tape from the cassette 24 to bring it into contact with the circumference 18 of the helical scan drum 12. Such a movement is attained by mechanisms 38, 42, 48 connected with a motor-driven cam 40, and the movement of the cleaning means 80 is operative independently of the aforementioned additional functions.
