PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To nearly completely remove liquid developer retained in the gap between a photoreceptor and a squeezing roller, in a part nearer on the upstream side from the contact part of the photoreceptor with the squeezing roller, just before a device is stopped. SOLUTION: A voltage having a polarity opposite to that of the charge of a toner grain is applied to a squeezing roller 14 just before the device is stopped and the squeezing roller 14 is driven to rotate in a direction opposite to that of the surface of a belt like photoreceptor B, while coming into contact with it. Liquid developer is completely removed from the photoreceptor B, to be stuck to the squeezing roller 14. Most of the liquid developer on the squeezing roller 14 is removed from the surface of the squeezing roller 14, in such a manner that a wiper blade 16 on which the same voltage as that of the squeezing roller 14 is applied comes into contact with it. After that, the squeezing roller 14 is separated from the photoreceptor B and the voltage having the same polarity as that of the toner grain is applied to the squeezing roller 14 and the wiper blade 16, to nearly completely remove the liquid developer from the surface of the squeezing roller 14. |
