PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission in which the ratio between flank angle and the coefficient of friction is set so as to maintain the durability of a structural body, that is, which does not cause damage to a belt, or which is provided with a belt eliminating the possibility of causing damage in a short period or even in a long period. SOLUTION: In relation to a conical flank angleλforming an acute angle under the action of the coefficientμof friction, and in a continuously variable transmission which is provided with pulleys 1, 2 capable of interacting with each other and a belt 3, and in which the belt 3 is suited to be subjected to both pressing force and tensile force, when the ratio between flank angleλin rotated state and the tangential effective coefficientμtan of friction is measured in radian, the coefficientμtan of friction is set to less than 1.1 times the value of related flank angleλand to more than 0.55 times the above value.
