PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an especially economical method for decomposing a halogenated org. compd., for example, dioxin in a dust-containing gas by using a catalyst. SOLUTION: In this method for decomposing the org. halogen compd. incorporated in the dust-containing gas by subjecting the gas to oxidative decomposition in the presence of oxygen by using a catalyst based on zinc oxide, tin dioxide, zirconium dioxide, iron oxide, silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide and/or titanium dioxide, the dust-containing gas is brought into contact with the catalyst at a temp. range of 60-250 deg.C. |
