PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer which can have rectangular and flattened wavelength loss characteristics with an abrupt rise and fall and coupling and branching light signals stably with small loss variation against wavelength variation of a light source. SOLUTION: The optical wavelength multiplexer/demultiplexer has on a substrate 1 an input waveguide 2, an output wavegudie 8, an array wavegudie diffraction grating 6 consisting of waveguides becoming longer in order by a specific waveguide length difference, an input-side side waveguide 3 which connects the input waveguide 2 and array waveguide diffraction grating 6, an output-side slab waveguide 7 which connects the output waveguide 8 and array waveguide diffraction grating 6, and a tapered waveguide 4 and a parabolic wavegudie 5 formed at the connection part of the input waveguide 2 and input-side slab waveguide 3. |
