The grip consists of a two armed lever (4), the shorter arm of which has prongs (7,9) which engage with the sole of a boot when it is placed on the board. The long arm (4') incorporates a spring loaded plunger (10) which loads the lever into the engaged position. A cable (12) runs over rollers (16,17) on the lever (4) and a bracket (14). The end of the cable is wound up by a weak torsional spring onto a reel (19) which is mounted in a ball (19). The ball sits in a part spherical seat on the lever (4). The ball can be lifted by hand to exert a pull on the cable to release the lever (4) from the sole.
