Driven shaft with moment of inertia varying with acceleration

The inertia ring (13) is positioned concentrically to a driven shaft (1), especially a vehicle crankshaft. It incorporates weights which move from an inoperative position to an extended position when the shaft is rotated. The movable weights give a moment of inertia which varies with acceleration. The extension movement is inserted to centrifugal mass members (7) which are displaced radial to the axis of rotation. Preferably, the movement is transmitted to the centrifugal masses by guides in which guide pins move. The guide is particularly in the form of a spiral groove.
