PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pixel counter capable of quickly counting the number of pixels having prescribed PE value from binary or multi-valued picture data. SOLUTION: An LUT 14 having 256 storing elements corresponding to integer values to be obtained from an 8-bit pixel array and storing a value '1' obtained at the time of expressing an address by a binary number in each array element is previously prepared, and when a pixel segmenting part 1 segments a pixel array in each eight bits from a line buffer 12, a counting part 13 extracts the number of black pixels from the LUT 14 by using the pixel array itself as an address. |
