PURPOSE: To effectively suppress decreasing discharge capacity, in a battery whose negative electrode can be left as placed in a more charged condition than in the past after the initial charge of the battery, so as to provide its capacity in a positive electrode limit even at low temperature time. CONSTITUTION: A battery is provided with a sintered nickel positive plate with nickel hydroxide serving as the main active material and a hydrogen storage alloy negative plate. A metal or compound, oxidized when initially charged the battery and not reduced even when discharged the main positive electrode active material, is provided in the sintered nickel positive plate. |
