PURPOSE: To improve battery saving by providing interchangeability with POCSAG coding standard. CONSTITUTION: This system is provided with a baud rate detector 48 evaluating inputted transmission to determine whether a baud rate is compatible with a decoder 66 and a preamble detector 44 for determining the transmission of a preamble code. When a receiver is turned on, baud rate information and preamble code information are frequently sampled to evaluate whether reception is effective to evaluate synchronization with an internal clock. When a pager is on stand-by and waiting reception, the receiver is periodically turned on to search effective data of a correct baud rate and to search a POCSAG preamble code. As the signals with the incorrect baud rate are quickly detected to turn off a radio circuit to save power consumption. After the synchronizing of clocks is obtained, the radio circuit of the pager is never turned on for receiving synchronization signals. |
