POROUS PACKING FOR DEODORIZER AND DEODORIZER USING THE PACKING

PURPOSE:To provide a porous packing for a deodorizer having an extremely high compressive strength and an extremely low pressure drop when packed in a deodorization tank and capable of sufficiently growing microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:This porous packing is used for a deodorizer for a microorganism growth bed imparting a growth environment to the microorganisms having a malodorous material decomposing function and immobilizing the microorganisms. The packing consists of the material obtained by carbonizing the raw coal consisting essentially of caking coal at 1000-1300 deg.C to release the volatile component in the coal. The packing 8 obtained by crushing the carbonized material has 5-50mm average grain diameter, contains 80-90wt.% fixed carbon and 5-20wt.% ash and has many micropores 82 having 50-500mum inner diameter. Such a porous packing is packed in a deodorization tank to form the deodorizer.
