PURPOSE:To obtain the surface inspection apparatus and the surface inspection method whose inspection accuracy can be enhanced by a method wherein, when the surface of an object to be inspected is inspected by an image processing operation, a normal region and an abnormal region are divided surely. CONSTITUTION:Analog-signal data on the surface of an object, to be inspected, which has been imaged by an imaging means is converted into digital-signal data by an analog-to-digital conversion means 19, the digital-signal data is recorded in a recording medium 20 as an original image, the digital signal data as the original image is labeled on the basis of a brightness value via an image processing means 21 by a control means 14, and the original image can be divided directly into regions on the basis of the brightness value. |
