PURPOSE:To reduce an input load by collating a character string inputted by a hand- written character input device with an auxiliary dictionary for sentence preparation in the input process of the character string, predicting a character string to be inputted following the initial character string and treating the predicted character string as a character string to be inputted from the input device. CONSTITUTION:A coordinate input device 1 consists of a transparent tablet and a stylus pen and is laminated on a display device 3 such as a liquid crystal display so as to be integrated with a control device 2. The control device 2 is provided with a coordinate input part 11, a frame detecting/cutting part 12, a time detecting/cutting part 13, a hand-written character recognizing part 14, a sentence/dictionary collating part, and various data buffers. An external storage device 4 is constituted of initializing data 41 for initializing a system, a hand-written character recognizing dictionary 42 registering character patterns to be used for the recognition of hand-written characters and a sentence preparation auxiliary dictionary 43 registering various sentence expressions. The hand-written character recognizing part 14 recognizes a coordinate value string stored in a character coordinate data buffer 32 as a character. |
