PURPOSE:To prevent a trouble in a recording device due to ink overflowing by providing a waste ink reservior of moisture-permeable member in a vessel having through holes and controlling an ink discharge into a waste ink reservior based on the detection results of an ink quantity in the vessel. CONSTITUTION:A waste ink reservior 11 consisting of a flexible moisture-permeable bag is stored in a vessel 10 having a plurarity of through holes 10a on the upper surface, and a pump which discharges ink from a subtank in an ink jet head to the waste ink reservior 11 is installed. Then contactors 12a, 12b which detect an ink quantity electrically are connected to a central processing unit CPU through signal lines l1, l2. CPU monitors a continuity of the contactor 12a... due to an expansion of the waste ink reservior 11 and discharge recovery action to the pump when the quantity of ink in the waste ink reservior 11 is scarce and stops the action of the pump, if the waste ink reservior 11 is filled. Thus, it is possible to prevent trouble in the recording device due to ink overflowing from the waste ink reservior. |
