In molding a carbon abrasive body for electric collectors or the like from a powder composition (7) containing graphite and resin bonding agents in a compression mold (1) with at least one molding plug (3), a thin layer of resin-free parting agent is applied between the powder composition and the molding plug to prevent the resin from adhering to the molding plug under the frictional heat of compression. Preferred parting agent is powdered copper, which also improves the contact resistance when the connection cables are imbedded in the powdered molding composition.
