PURPOSE: To increase the coercive rate of a cobalt-based magnetic recording thin film by forming the lower layer of a non-magnetic chrome - tungsten two-dimensional alloy and depositing a thin-film magnetic recording layer on the lower layer. CONSTITUTION: The main constituent of a lower layer 12 of a two-dimensional alloy (CrW) is chromium, and a layer 12 with a composition of Cr (88) and W (12) is deposited as a thin film on a basic member 10 for the lower layer. Alternatively, when a thin film of NiP is given, it is deposited on an addition layer 11 of NiP as the thin film. Then, a magnetic recording layer 13 of cobalt- based alloy of ferromagnetic bodies, such as cobalt - platinum - chromium(CoPtCr) is subjected to sputter deposition as a thin film on the exposed surface of the thin film 12 of the lower layer of a thin two-dimensional alloy Cr, thus preventing the coercive rate of the magnetic thin film 13 that is deposited on the lower layer from changing as a function of the thickness of the CrW lower layer 12 and eliminating the need for accurately controlling the thickness of the CrW lower layer. |
