The invention belongs to the field of sports technical equipment for stringing rackets having a strung head. By placing manual pressure on the pliers, the upper arm (7) acts as a lever on the spring (6) with a deltoid blade which is then compressed and elastically pushes back the arm of a wheel (9) centred on the same spindle (2). The arms (7), (9) then tighten up (draw together) by an angle proportional to the tension exerted on the string which is previously wedged in a slot (12) open at the upper end of the wheel (9). The latter includes a groove (10) forming a pulley and stretches the thread (wire), which detaches perpendicularly (AA) with respect to the pulley (10) opposite the snout (nose) of the lower handle. A latch (trigger) (14) makes it possible to wedge the stretched string, by index-finger pressure, pushing the punch (12) into the die. A reference gauge, calibrated in kgs, integral with the upper arm (7) and centred on the spindle (2) makes it possible to read off the tension of the stringing. <IMAGE>
